Elektra + Antonis: “We’ve grown deeper roots and higher branches in our relationship”
If you’ve started the new year wondering how to care for your relationship—or how to deepen communication, trust, and intimacy with your partner—read on.
The holiday break offered me much-needed time to reconnect with myself and my offerings, and one thing just kept returning to me: the power of cultivating presence. Both in my own relationship and in the work I do with couples, I’ve seen how much closer we can come when we slow down, truly listen, and stay present with all that is moving between us.
I was also reminded of how much I love supporting couples in navigating trust, intimacy, and conflict. Guiding couples to embody the skills of presence, deep listening, and awareness—to repair and build trust in one another—has been such a rewarding part of my work.
One of the most touching moments for me is when I see a couple doing what it takes to truly hear one another, even in the face of deep triggers. It’s incredible to witness how presence can help regulate the nervous system—both together and apart.
What I often mourn, though, is how many couples come to me when they are on the verge of breaking up, or even past that point. Of course, there’s so much that can be done to support amicable endings, and sometimes even the possibility of reconnection. I deeply value accompanying couples through these decisions and transitions.
And yet, I’ve also seen the beauty and transformation that can happen when couples come to me earlier on.
Take Antonis and Elektra, for example. They’ve been working with me for 1.5 years. When they started, they were at a critical point where they were discovering their different characters and needs. Trying to find a common ground often led to conflicts. This is the healthy differentiation phase, where partners stand for their differences while learning to stay together—a recurring moment of tension in many relationships. Learning how to navigate these tensions instead of breaking apart is where so much growth and deepening of love can happen.
Elektra described the impact of our work beautifully: "Working with Emma has been such a meaningful journey for me and my partner. We’ve grown deeper roots and higher branches in our relationship, cultivating trust, empathy, and sensitivity through both happy and difficult moments.”
Through regular sessions (and now monthly “relationship hygiene” check-ins), Antonis and Elektra have gifted their relationship the opportunity to grow deep roots of stability and trust. (This kind of work is also possible even if only one partner is ready to begin the process.)
With trust often comes more intimacy, closeness, and a deepening of love. When we feel safe together, we allow ourselves to be held in the unknown, and that’s where magic happens.
I currently have space to work with two couples privately for the next 3–6 months. If you’d like to explore what this could look like, you can:
